Reducing Tuition Worries... Gyeongnam Province Awards Total of 200 Million KRW in Scholarships to 400 Low-Income Students
Households Below 70% of Median Income, 500,000 Won Per Person
Gyeongsangnam-do has awarded scholarships totaling 200 million KRW, providing 500,000 KRW each to 400 middle and high school students from low-income families.
According to Gyeongnam Province on the 21st, the scholarship recipients are children from households with a median income of 70% or less residing in the province, who have excellent or improved academic performance, are diligent, and serve as role models recommended by their school principals.
In the first half of this year, among students who passed the school's own review, the Gyeongnam Office of Education recommended candidates through the scholarship selection committee, confirming a total of 400 scholarship recipients, including 236 middle school students and 164 high school students.
The province has been promoting the 'Scholarship Program for Children from Low-Income Families' for five years to encourage academic achievement and nurture local talent, providing scholarships totaling 1.57 billion KRW to 3,148 students up to last year.
For the second half of this year, recommendations for scholarship candidates will be accepted until the end of November, and in December, scholarships totaling 200 million KRW will be awarded to 400 students.
