Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 21st that it has been included in the FTSE4Good index, one of the global ESG evaluation indices, for 13 consecutive years, the longest period in the domestic electronic components industry.
FTSE4Good is an ESG evaluation index established in 2001 as a joint venture between the UK financial newspaper Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange, evaluating over 7,000 companies worldwide. The evaluation criteria of FTSE4Good consist of three areas: Environment, Social, and Governance, along with more than 300 detailed evaluation items.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics received excellent evaluations in all areas of E (Environment), S (Social), and G (Governance), achieving a score of 4.0, which is higher than the domestic company average of 2.5 evaluated by FTSE4Good. In particular, it received the highest score of 5 in the fields of ▲Supply Chain Management ▲Pollution and Resources ▲Corporate Governance.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is conducting on-site focused support and mid- to long-term structural improvement activities, such as expanding education support on products and safety environment for partner companies and establishing specialized training for nurturing key personnel of partner companies. Through improvements in waste disposal processes, it has achieved a recycling rate of 96%, and by introducing product environmental responsibility that evaluates the entire process from raw material development to product production, it is also strengthening resource circulation activities. In the corporate governance area, it maintains a female outside director ratio of over 50% to expand board diversity and has strengthened independence by appointing an outside director as the chairperson of the board.
