Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kim Hae-cheol) announced on the 19th that it conducted an on-site inspection on the 17th to assess the damage caused by the heavy rain in the jurisdiction and to prevent accidents.
On the 14th, Kim Hae-cheol, Chief of Mokpo Maritime Police Station, inspected the site of drifting and flooding accidents involving moored vessels related to the opening of the drainage gate of Watancheon Stream following the heavy rain in Beopseongpo Port, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do.

View original imageAt the site, Chief Kim listened to an overview of the accident, confirmed the vessels involved, and assessed the safety management status for accident prevention by the on-site department. He also encouraged frontline workers and listened to their difficulties and suggestions.
During the inspection, he urged proactive preventive measures such as establishing a disaster response cooperation system with related agencies in case of situations caused by heavy rain and other adverse weather, and strengthening intensive patrols of ports, harbors, coastal areas, and vulnerable zones along the coast.
