Reels Video Kim Ji-young, Grand Prize Winner
Yeongju City in Gyeongbuk has finalized the selection of 12 winning entries for the ‘2023 Yeongju Reels Video and Photo Contest.’
Yeongju City held the contest from May 17 to June 19, open to the entire nation, to discover innovative promotional content featuring Yeongju.
'Stairway to Heaven,' which won the grand prize in the photography category at the 'Reels Photo Contest' hosted by Yeongju City.
View original imageThis contest received a total of 99 submissions, including 35 reels videos and 64 photos, all capturing the unique characteristics of Yeongju in fresh ways.
The submitted works were evaluated by a panel of judges, including external experts in each category, who comprehensively considered theme relevance, completeness, creativity, popularity, and usability to select 12 winning entries.
As a result of the judging, the grand prize in the reels video category was awarded to Kim Ji-young (49) from Pohang City, Gyeongbuk, for her work titled ‘A Special Day Spent by a Special Me.’ The video was praised for its well-structured storytelling and vivid direction, showcasing special moments spent at tourist spots such as Yeongjuho Lake, Museom Village, and the Modern History and Culture Street.
In the photo category, the grand prize went to ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ which captured the beautiful scenery of a pale pink azalea flower path blooming between the long staircases along the ridge of Yeonhwabong Peak in Sobaeksan Mountain. This work was taken by Lee Jae-kyung (47) from Jeungpyeong County, Chungbuk.
Yeongju City plans to award prize money and certificates in August as follows: in the reels video category, one grand prize winner will receive 1.5 million KRW, two excellence award winners will receive 800,000 KRW each, and three encouragement award winners will receive 300,000 KRW each; in the photo category, one grand prize winner will receive 700,000 KRW, two excellence award winners will receive 350,000 KRW each, and three encouragement award winners will receive 200,000 KRW each.
Jo Nang, Director of Yeongju City Public Relations and Information Office, said, “We thank everyone who participated in this contest with original ideas. We will continue to do our best to discover innovative promotional content that highlights the charm of Yeongju.”
