Multiple Mass Shootings Occur Over US Weekend... At Least 5 Dead
Several shootings occurred across the United States over the weekend, resulting in at least five deaths.
According to the Associated Press and other sources on the 15th (local time), a mass shooting took place in Hampton, a small town south of Atlanta in southeastern Georgia, where four people?three men and one woman?were killed at the scene.
The shooter was not apprehended at the scene and is currently on the run, AP reported. Local police have identified Andre Longmore (40), a resident of Hampton, as the suspect and are tracking a black sport utility vehicle (SUV) he may be driving in an effort to capture him. Authorities have not yet determined a clear motive for the crime and have warned that Longmore is believed to be armed with firearms, urging caution.
Earlier the previous afternoon, a shooting targeting police officers occurred in a busy area of Fargo, North Dakota, in the north-central United States, resulting in the death of one officer.
The shooter was killed at the scene. The suspect was identified as Mohammad Barakat (37). While the motive is still under investigation, officials said the suspect had prior contact with the police before the shooting.
The deceased officer was reported to be a veteran with experience serving in Afghanistan.
