Number of Deaths in Gyeongbuk Region Rises to 16 Due to "Heavy Rainfall"
The death toll from the heavy rain concentrated in the Gyeongbuk region has risen to 16.
According to the Gyeongbuk Fire Headquarters on the 15th, as of 4 p.m. that day, the human damage status was identified as 16 dead, 9 missing, and 2 injured.
The deceased include 4 in Hyoja-myeon, Yecheon-gun; 1 in Eunpung-myeon; 2 in Yongmun-myeon; 2 in Punggi-eup, Yeongju-si; 2 in Jangsu-myeon; 1 in Mungyeong-si; and 4 in Bonghwa-gun. The 9 missing persons include 8 in Yecheon and 1 in Mungyeong.
The man and woman who died when their house was buried by a landslide in Punggi-eup, Yeongju-si, were identified as a father and daughter in their 60s and 20s, respectively.
In Yecheon-gun, where the damage was concentrated, all personnel from the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters and soldiers from the Army's 50th Division and the Air Force's 16th Fighter Wing were mobilized.
