Park Dong-sik, Mayor of Sacheon City in Gyeongnam Province, visited the National Assembly together with Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, and Seo Hee-young, Chairman of the Sacheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, to request the prompt passage of the Special Act on the Space and Aviation Agency.
This visit to the National Assembly was promoted amid concerns that the opening of the agency could be delayed as the Special Act on the Space and Aviation Agency has been stalled due to various conflicts in the National Assembly's Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee.
However, it is expected that the agency can open within the year due to the strong will of President Yoon Seok-yeol and the government regarding the Space and Aviation Agency.
Mayor Park Dong-sik of Sacheon met with Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, and Seo Hee-young, Chairman of the Sacheon Chamber of Commerce, to request the prompt passage of the Special Act on the Space Aviation Agency from Park Kwang-on, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea.
View original imageIn fact, President Yoon Seok-yeol expressed on the 5th that he intends to open the agency within this year, and Cho Sung-kyung, 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, confidently stated on the 10th, "It is possible if the National Assembly provides support," regarding the agency's opening within the year.
During the visit, they met with Park Kwang-on, Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, and Cho Seung-rae, Democratic Party member of the Science, ICT, Broadcasting and Communications Committee, explained the urgency of establishing the Space and Aviation Agency, and requested the early enactment of the Special Act.
Floor Leader Park promised, "No one opposes the Space and Aviation Agency," and added, "We will help ensure that the bill is promptly revised through bipartisan agreement."
Mayor Park said, "The aerospace sector will become Korea's future growth engine like the semiconductor industry, and due to the nature of the industry, active nurturing led by a dedicated agency is absolutely necessary," adding, "It is a critical time for the National Assembly to make a magnanimous decision to set aside conflicts and propel Korea to become a leading aerospace power."
Meanwhile, Governor Park presented a vision to develop Sacheon as a complex aerospace city and expressed his intention to support this by establishing a task force for the development of the aerospace complex city.
