View original imageThe Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Kim Young-cheol) sent prosecutors and investigators to the National Assembly Secretariat this morning to secure entry records of several current members of the National Assembly and their aides.
Among the targets of this raid, it is known that many aides who worked for former party leader Song Young-gil during his time as a member of the National Assembly were included. Former leader Song is identified as the ultimate beneficiary of this allegation. The prosecution is reportedly tracking entry records to the National Assembly and the members' office buildings, keeping open the possibility that they were involved in the distribution of money envelopes.
Earlier, on the 5th of last month, the prosecution secured entry record data for 29 members' offices through a raid on the National Assembly Secretariat. Subsequently, they requested additional records for about 10 aides, but when the Secretariat was reluctant to voluntarily submit them, the prosecution obtained a search warrant and executed it on this day.

The prosecution is investigating the case on the premise that independent lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok, who supported former leader Song, distributed money envelopes containing 3 million won each to about 20 incumbent lawmakers on April 28-29, 2021, just before the party convention. On the 3rd, the prosecution arrested Park Yong-soo, a former aide to former leader Song and a key figure in the case, to verify the instruction and conspiracy relationship with former leader Song.
