Gyeongnam Governor Park Wan-su: "Recognition of Pledge Fulfillment Is Not Enough, Let's Create Changes That Residents Can Feel"
137 Milling Projects: 133 Completed or Progressing Normally, 89% Budget Secured
“It should not be enough to simply be recognized for the excellence of last year’s pledge implementation plan.”
Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, said this on the 7th while reviewing the implementation status of provincial administration issues, including pledges, at the 2023 2nd quarter core task inspection meeting.
According to Gyeongnam Province, the core tasks of the 8th elected Gyeongnam Province include 50 provincial administration tasks that require management in connection with 75 key projects and pledges, about 100 governor’s directives from executive meetings, and 32 policy proposals presented at the residents’ meeting.
As a result of the inspection, among the 137 provincial administration tasks, 5 tasks including “Operation of a dedicated investment attraction organization and strengthening expertise” were completed, 128 tasks were progressing normally, and 4 tasks were partially underway.
It was also confirmed that about 2.55 trillion won, accounting for 89% of the 2.8643 trillion won planned for this year to implement pledges and other goals, was secured.
Of the directives, 48 were completed, 67 are under continuous management, and the rest are in progress.
Regarding the proposed policy tasks, discussions were held on how to reflect them in provincial administration, rather than just internal departmental review processes.

Gyeongnam Province plans to enhance the execution power of priority tasks by conducting self-inspections monthly and quarterly, and comprehensively reviewing the implementation status through quarterly inspection meetings chaired by the governor to devise solutions for underperforming tasks.
They also intend to continue efforts to actively reflect necessary parts in government plans and projects and secure budgets through close cooperation with central ministries and related organizations.
Governor Park said, “This year, it is important to actively implement major issues such as pledges to bring about changes in provincial administration that residents can feel.”
He added, “Among the pledges, the establishment of a comprehensive emergency medical control tower has been completed,” emphasizing, “We must discover and strengthen welfare policies for residents so that unfortunate incidents caused by not receiving timely and proper treatment do not occur.”
