'Shield of the Sea' Navy Recruit Class 692 Graduates 999... Descendants of Independence Activists and Veterans Included
The graduation ceremony for the 692nd class of Navy recruits at the Naval Education Command was held on the 7th at the Hoguk Hall within the base.
According to the Education Command, this class consisted of 999 recruits who enlisted on June 5th and completed a 5-week training program.
They completed training including physical conditioning, night combat marches, field education, IBS (Inflatable Boat Small) training, and combat swimming.
Among them were 39 individuals including Private Bae Hyun-jun, descendants of veterans from the Korean War and the Vietnam War, as well as independence activists.

View original imageAt the graduation ceremony, Private Kim Woo-sung, who completed the training with excellent practical, theoretical, and disciplinary scores, received the Education Commander's Award, and Private Kwon Sung-jun received the Basic Military Training Unit Commander's Award.
The 692nd class of Navy recruits will be assigned to their units after receiving specialized training at various subordinate educational institutions of the Naval Education Command to enhance their expertise in their respective specialties.

View original imageCommander Lee Sung-yeol of the Education Command said, “I welcome the 692nd class who endured tough training despite the hot weather and continuous rainy season, becoming comrades who will protect our seas together,” and added, “I ask you to show the nation the dedication and courage burning with the spirit of patriotism, fighting the enemy without hesitation with the will to protect the Republic of Korea and defend freedom, just like the veteran comrades who have continued the victorious history.”
Representative Private Seo Bo-sung of the 692nd class said, “I spent a meaningful time as a soldier at the training center and have been reborn as a Navy member,” and added, “I will do my best as a proud shield of the sea and a respectable member of the Republic of Korea Navy.”

Previously, to increase recruitment rates, the Navy increased the number of recruitments from 9 times a year to 10 times, and starting with the 692nd class of Navy recruits, the training period was adjusted from 6 weeks to 5 weeks.
