KOSHA Holds Industrial Safety and Health Research Paper Competition
Creating Opportunities for Utilizing Official National Statistical Survey Data
The 10th Industrial Safety and Health Survey Data Paper Competition, hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor (Minister Lee Jeong-sik) and the Occupational Safety and Health Research Institute of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (Director Kim Eun-ah), was held at 2 p.m. on the 4th at KINTEX in Ilsan.
Since its inception in 2014, this competition has aimed to encourage the use of raw data from the nationally approved surveys?the Working Environment Survey and the Industrial Safety and Health Status Survey?and to establish a research foundation that can contribute to policy development.

View original imageEspecially this year, anyone interested in the field of safety and health was eligible to apply, which increased interest among both researchers and the general public. Over two months, a total of 46 papers were submitted, and 8 papers were selected as the final outstanding papers, receiving certificates and prizes totaling 10.5 million KRW. Additionally, 5 papers selected as runners-up were awarded prizes.
The grand prize, the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, was awarded to resident doctor Baek Seong-uk (Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Severance Hospital). The paper was highly evaluated for its approach to the multifaceted characteristics of precarious labor faced by wage workers in Korea and its association with mental health, based on the 6th Working Environment Survey.
