The 'Neulbom School,' which integrates elementary education and care to support parents' childcare, reduce private education expenses, and resolve educational disparities, began its pilot operation this year. The Ministry of Education has set a plan to operate about four pilot education offices and approximately 200 pilot schools under them among the 17 metropolitan and provincial offices of education nationwide through the promotion of Neulbom School. Next year, the pilot education offices and pilot schools will be expanded. The goal is to apply operation models by region and school and, by 2025, to provide high-quality integrated education and care services before and after regular classes to all elementary students by utilizing various educational resources inside and outside schools.
President Yoon’s on-site inspection on this day was also to check the government’s progress and listen to voices from the field. At this meeting, including President Yoon, the attendees agreed on spreading Neulbom School nationwide by 2025 and gradually integrating the child care system centered on the Ministry of Education from preschool integration to Neulbom School to overcome low birth rates and create a child-friendly country.
President Yoon said, "It is most important to cultivate rich imagination in children through diversity in education, including not only academic subjects but also arts, physical education, and computer coding," and added, "While elderly care is a welfare issue, child care is an education issue, so let us all work together to achieve world-class education and care."
