Samyang Group Publishes '2022 Sustainability Management Report'
Samyang Group announced on June 30 that it has published the "2022 Sustainability Management Report," which contains the ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) performance and vision of the holding company and three listed affiliates for 2022.
This report includes the sustainability management activities and achievements carried out over the past year by four companies: ▲holding company Samyang Holdings ▲food and chemical affiliate Samyang Corporation ▲packaging affiliate Samyang Packaging ▲cosmetics and personal care materials specialist affiliate KCI.
Samyang Holdings established the group’s ESG strategy and management system, as well as plans for carbon neutrality response and realization of a circular economy. Additionally, it set up an ESG management system and detailed execution tasks to lay the foundation for advancing ESG management. In December last year, an ESG-dedicated organization was newly established to accelerate the achievement of the group’s ESG goals.
Samyang Corporation is contributing to building a circular economy by strengthening its eco-friendly materials business. Last year, it signed a supply contract with Netsupa, a social venture company recycling discarded fishing nets, to produce recycled plastic pellets from discarded fishing nets for automotive interior and exterior materials. It also developed Korea’s first eco-friendly polycarbonate (PC) containing more than 90% post-consumer recycled polycarbonate (PCR PC) raw materials. Furthermore, all domestic business sites obtained ISO14001, the global environmental management system standard.
Samyang Packaging is also committed to realizing a circular economy by advancing its recycling business. Last year, Samyang Packaging introduced waste plastic recycling technology and equipment and established Samyang Ecotech, a PET recycling specialized company. Through this, it plans to expand the utilization of waste plastics, which had been limited to disposable cups and short fibers for fillers, to food and cosmetic containers and long fibers for clothing, thereby broadening the base of eco-friendly businesses.
