20-Year-Old Biological Mother Arrested for Neglecting Newborn to Death 4 Years Ago
A woman in her 20s has been arrested on charges of neglecting her baby, who died after several days of being left unattended following childbirth four years ago.
On the 2nd, Suwon District Court duty judge Lee Hyun-jung issued an arrest warrant for Ms. A, who was charged with "Violation of the Special Act on the Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes (Child Abuse Homicide)," citing concerns that she might flee.
The deceased baby's biological mother, Ms. A, is accused of leaving her newborn son alone in a villa where she lived by herself in Daejeon in April 2019, resulting in the baby's death after three days of neglect.
Ms. A reportedly failed to register the birth and left the baby alone during the daytime in the house where she lived alone at the time, neglecting to properly feed the infant formula, which led to the baby's death.
