1st Anniversary Reflection: "Best Quality of Life & Establishing the Top Naju Vision"

Yoon Byung-tae, mayor of Naju City, Jeollanam-do, announced on the occasion of his first anniversary in office that he will establish the direction and vision toward a happy Naju with the highest quality of life and a leading Naju.

On the 2nd, Mayor Yoon stated in a “Message to Citizens and Public Officials,” “The past year, during which we have run breathlessly under the banner of a great transformation of Naju, was a period to establish the direction and vision to create a happy Naju with the highest quality of life and a leading Naju ahead in all fields.”

He continued, “To solve urgent issues, I directly checked problems on site and listened carefully to the vivid voices of citizens,” adding, “I met and rushed anywhere and to anyone to secure national budget and turn national policies into projects for Naju.”

Major achievements introduced include “the opening of a new renaissance era of the Yeongsan River through a region-customized integrated river project,” “passing the preliminary feasibility study for the Energy National Industrial Complex,” “securing domestic and international sales channels for agricultural products such as Naju pears and Naju rice,” “preparing reasonable alternatives for residential conditions in the Innovation City,” “preparing infrastructure for a premium education city including the establishment of the Future Education Support Center,” and “discovering customized welfare policies by class such as distributing standing tables and chairs to senior centers.”

He emphasized, “The Yeongsan River, which irrigates the Naju Plain and nurtures Naju, is entering a new renaissance era through the customized integrated river project,” adding, “I am confident that it will become a world-class tourist attraction where flowers bloom all year round in the river’s retention basin and people’s footsteps never cease, as well as strengthening flood prevention and river flood control functions.”

He also stated, “The Energy National Industrial Complex, the first national industrial complex, will be developed as a centennial cornerstone of Naju that protects national energy security in the energy hegemony competition and creates future generation food sources.”

Regarding residential issues in the Innovation City such as the SRF power plant, odor, and vacant commercial spaces, he promised, “We will prepare reasonable alternatives that citizens can sympathize with through coexistence and cooperation, not previous conflicts, confrontations, or neglect.”

New welfare policy achievements in the 8th local government include “promoting the distribution of standing tables and chairs to all village senior centers,” “designating 180 safe senior centers for dementia prevention and overcoming and dispatching care managers,” “supporting vaccination costs for shingles for those aged 65 and over,” “operating an emergency care center for people with developmental disabilities in case of guardian emergencies,” “abolishing residency conditions for childbirth support funds and supporting diagnostic test costs for infertility treatment couples,” and “dispatching housekeeping care personnel to all pregnant women before and after childbirth.”

He emphasized to public officials that the ultimate focus of all policies is “jobs.”

Mayor Yoon said, “I expect that the seeds sown and sprouts nurtured over the past year will now bear fruit one by one,” adding, “Let us devote ourselves to creating a hopeful foundation where not only the current generation but also future generations can plan their careers and freely pursue their dreams in Naju.”

He added, “I ask for your great interest, participation, and support so that Naju’s vision and policies opening a new Yeongsan River renaissance era can be fully realized,” and “I will do my best for the remaining three years without losing my original intention.”
