50s Robber Who Assaulted Elderly Person in Their 80s in Broad Daylight Arrested
A man in his 50s who broke into a house in broad daylight, assaulted an elderly man in his 80s when caught, and fled has been arrested by the police.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul announced on the 29th that they have obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. A, in his late 50s, on charges of robbery and injury, and are currently investigating.
Mr. A is accused of entering a semi-basement unit in a multi-family house in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, around 1 p.m. on the 24th, and violently beating the face of an 85-year-old woman, Ms. B, causing injuries.
Ms. B reportedly suffered a severe jaw injury and was diagnosed with a six-week recovery period. Mr. A fled without stealing any valuables after being caught by the victim.
The police tracked Mr. A through analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and inquiries, and arrested him at Yeongdeungpo Market around 8:30 p.m. on the 25th, just one day after the crime, while he was drinking.
It was additionally revealed that Mr. A was issued an arrest warrant for breaking into a house in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, in May after being released in April, where he broke a security window and stole a piggy bank containing 700,000 won.
He is known to have committed similar crimes multiple times before.
