Professor Jeong Taeju Appointed as New President of Andong University … "Doing My Best to Attract Medical School"
Professor Jeong Tae-ju (58) from the Department of Electrical and New Materials Engineering, College of Engineering, was appointed as the 9th president of Andong National University on the 29th.
President Jeong was selected as the top candidate for the 9th president through a direct election voting system involving professors, staff, and students in March. After approval by the Cabinet meeting on the 27th, he officially began his four-year term as the 9th president of Andong National University on July 1st.
President Jeong stated, “I will create a student competency-enhancing regional national university in Gyeongbuk where all university members can feel happiness through the growth and development of students,” adding, “To this end, I will do my best to secure the selection as a glocal university and to attract a national medical school, which are currently the university’s biggest issues.”
After graduating from Seoul National University, President Jeong joined Andong National University as a professor in 2002 and has served as the head of the Startup Support Center, director of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Education Project Group, director of Planning, and director of the Regional Innovation Project Group.

Externally, he has been active as the chairman of the Council of Directors of Planning at Regional National Universities, a member of the Ministry of Education’s Task Force on National University Development Plans, a member of the Ministry of Education’s National University Development Council, and a project management committee member for the National University Development Project at the National Research Foundation of Korea.
