Active with 13 Monitoring and Evaluation Cases and 40 Correction Requests from 2022 to 2023
Gangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) recently appointed three new ombudsman members.
On the 22nd, Mayor Lee Soon-hee presented appointment certificates to them and held a meeting in the mayor’s office.
The role of the ombudsman is to promptly resolve complaints and issues arising between residents and administrative agencies. They receive residents’ grievances regarding administration, investigate them from a neutral standpoint, and if illegal or improper administrative handling or unlawful acts are found, they can request corrections, audits, recommendations, or express opinions to the district office.
The representative ombudsman of Gangbuk-gu is Kim Kyung-ho, Secretary General of the District Architects Association. The newly appointed members on this day include Park Cha-hong, Construction Project Manager at ITM Architects Office; Nam Gi-eop, Director of the Land Freedom Research Institute; and Park Young-woon, Chief Lawyer at the law firm Sejung, bringing the total to five members.
The Gangbuk-gu ombudsmen were also active last year. Through 9 contract monitoring and evaluations and 1 grievance handling case, they expressed 30 opinions and requested corrections on 45 other matters.
As of June 2023, they have produced 4 contract monitoring and evaluations, 40 correction requests, and 13 opinions.
Looking at this year’s achievements, they requested 13 corrections, including raising the safety railing of the 2nd-floor dementia relief center to over 1.2 meters during the construction of the new public health center, and expressed 5 opinions.
For the construction of the new community facility at Bukhansan Ecological Park, they proposed 4 correction requests such as placing rebar on bedrock before pouring concrete, and expressed 1 opinion.
Additionally, for the construction of the Suyu 1-dong Village Sarangbang, they expressed 6 opinions including adjusting the height of the rooftop vertical stair locking device and requested 13 corrections.
