Chungnam Province Conducts Detailed Survey of Coastal Erosion at Daecheon Beach
Chungnam Province will conduct a detailed investigation to find solutions to the coastal erosion problem at Daecheon Beach.
According to Chungnam Province on the 29th, Daecheon Beach was confirmed to have a decrease in beach width by 0.6m and cross-sectional area by 1.2m compared to the previous year in the ‘2022 Coastal Erosion Survey’ conducted by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries last year.
Additionally, the slope became gentler, changing from an average of 2.3 degrees to 0.5 degrees.
The comprehensive evaluation grade for coastal erosion at Daecheon Beach was C in 2004, 2012, 2013, and 2018, while the other years received a B grade.
The detailed investigation will be jointly conducted by Chungnam Province and Boryeong City from next month until December of next year to analyze the causes of coastal erosion at Daecheon Beach and find fundamental solutions.
Chungnam Province will investigate how natural factors and artificial factors such as man-made structures have affected the erosion, and will conduct monitoring of sand movement routes, as well as surveys of sedimentation areas and sand circulation.
After the investigation, based on the results, a plan for the coastal maintenance project in the Daecheon 2 district will be established.
