Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) urgently convened the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 8 a.m. on the 29th in anticipation of heavy rain.
Mayor Park Gang-su and about 20 headquarters staff from the Water Management Division, Public Relations Media Division, and others gathered at the Disaster Prevention Center to monitor the status of local retention basins, rainwater pumping stations, and rivers in real-time via CCTV, assessing flood-prone areas and flood prevention facilities.
Mayor Park Gang-su stated, "Fortunately, Mapo-gu did not suffer major flood damage last year, but we must not be complacent about safety," and instructed related departments to "closely examine flood-vulnerable areas, vulnerable groups who have difficulty evacuating, and semi-basement houses, and respond actively to prevent any loss of life or property damage."
