Fair Trade Commission Investigates Krafton and Kakao Games for 'Outsourcing Company Gapjil'
Focused Investigation on Unissued Documents and Unfair Special Agreements in Seomyeon
The Fair Trade Commission is investigating allegations of subcontracting abuse by major game companies.
According to industry sources on the 27th, the FTC's New Industry Subcontracting Investigation Team recently began on-site investigations into subcontracting abuse involving Krafton and Kakao Games. It is reported that the FTC is examining whether major game companies, including these two, violated the Subcontracting Act in dealings with outsourcing firms.
The FTC had announced earlier this year that it would inspect unfair subcontracting practices in software sectors such as gaming and cloud services, as well as content industries like drama and film. Key areas of focus include verbal contracts (without written documentation) during outsourcing production, unfair special clauses, inspection processes, and delays in payment.
