Korea Forest Service and Chungnam Issue Landslide Risk Alert 'Caution'
The Korea Forest Service has raised the landslide warning level to ‘Caution’ in the Chungnam, Jeonnam·Buk, and Gyeongnam regions.
On the 26th, the Korea Forest Service announced that as of 6:30 AM in Jeonnam and 7:00 AM in Chungnam, Jeonbuk, and Gyeongnam, the landslide warning level will be upgraded from Interest to Caution.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, due to the stationary front from the 26th to the 27th, rainfall of 30 to 100 mm or more (up to 120 mm) is expected in Chungnam, Jeonnam·Buk, and Gyeongnam regions.
Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service plans to raise the landslide warning in Chungnam and other areas, conduct pre-inspections of major risk areas such as landslide-prone zones and wildfire-damaged sites, and activate an emergency response system to prepare for any possible incidents.
The landslide warning system is divided into four levels: ‘Interest - Caution - Alert - Serious’. Currently, other cities and provinces except Chungnam, Jeonnam·Buk, and Gyeongnam remain at the Interest level.
