Specifically, the ESG Fundamentals chapter describes the 2022 activities of the ESG Committee, the ESG action plan announced to employees for ESG management practices, and efforts to spread ESG awareness within the company, such as ESG education by job category.
The Environment section introduces efforts for resource circulation, including the environmental management promotion system, eco-friendly products and services, and collection of discarded home appliances.
The Social section covers efforts to fulfill social responsibilities, such as customer satisfaction management activities, workplace safety and health, win-win cooperation with partners and local communities, information protection, and data security.
The Governance section describes the status of board operations, ethical management, and governance practices for sustainable management.
Lotte Hi-Mart adopted a 'Double Materiality' assessment in line with the latest ESG trends to select material ESG issues. Double Materiality is a concept that considers both the external environment affecting a company's financial status and the impact of corporate management activities on society and the environment.
Through this, Lotte Hi-Mart derived nine tasks: ▲product safety and quality assurance ▲ensuring a safe workplace ▲improving customer satisfaction and accessibility/convenience ▲customer personal information protection ▲transparent and efficient governance ▲ethical and compliance management ▲partner ESG management ▲fair trade compliance ▲and waste generation reduction.
The report comprehensively reflects the latest standards, including the 'GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) Standards 2021,' the U.S. Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) standards, TCFD recommendations, and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It also secured accuracy and reliability through third-party verification by the professional verification institution BSI Group Korea (British Standards Institution).
Joo Kwang-gyu, Head of Management Support Division at Lotte Hi-Mart, said, "We published the Sustainability Management Report again this year to communicate our ESG management performance with various stakeholders such as shareholders, customers, and employees. Lotte Hi-Mart will continue to create future value for customers and shareholders through solid ESG management."
