'Armed Rebellion' Prigozhin Claims "Shot Down Russian Military Helicopter"
Announcement Immediately After Russia's Entry Following Ukraine Crossing
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the mercenary company Wagner Group, which has threatened the Russian Ministry of Defense, announced on the 24th (local time) that his subordinates shot down a Russian regular army helicopter, according to AFP and AP news agencies.
Prigozhin claimed that the Russian military helicopter fired at a civilian convoy and was then shot down by the Wagner unit.
Earlier, Prigozhin stated that his subordinates crossed the Ukrainian border and entered Russia. Through Telegram, he said they had entered the southern Russian city of Rostov and warned, "We will destroy anyone who interferes."
The day before, Prigozhin threatened to take action to punish Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, alleging that the Russian Ministry of Defense ordered a missile attack on the Wagner Group camp, resulting in many casualties among his subordinates.
