China Provokes as US and India 'Close Ties'... Foreign Media Calls Bilateral Relations a 'New Milestone'
U.S. President Joe Biden gave a grand welcome to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit, with major foreign media outlets evaluating that the bilateral relationship has entered a new era.
On the 22nd (local time), major foreign media reported on Modi's visit to the U.S., including the state dinner, stating, "After the White House rolled out the red carpet for Modi, the two leaders showcased agreements in defense and trade to counter China's global influence, celebrating a 'new era' in bilateral relations."
The state dinner held on the South Lawn of the White House was attended by CEOs of major U.S. big tech companies such as Apple's Tim Cook and Google's Sundar Pichai, who witnessed the camaraderie between the two leaders. Considering that the U.S. and India are not formal treaty-bound allies and that India has long pursued an independent diplomatic path, this level of hospitality is analyzed as highly unusual.
In fact, foreign media reported that the scenes staged during Modi's visit to the U.S. were so unprecedented and special that they could be seen as a herald of a new era. During this visit, Modi delivered a speech at a joint session of the U.S. Congress, marking his second joint session speech since his 2016 visit during former President Barack Obama's administration. It is extremely rare for a foreign leader to address a joint session of Congress more than once. Only a few, such as former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and former South African President Nelson Mandela, have done so. This is why Modi's state visit is being referred to as receiving 'Churchill-level honors.'

Foreign media reported that this kind of hospitality is a move to check China, which is competing with the U.S. for hegemony. Cooperation with India, which has the world's largest population and is experiencing rapid economic growth, is more necessary than ever to block China's hegemonic challenge.
