Imsil-gun Bungeo Island Ecological Park, Admission Fee Reduction for Social Class Consideration
Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk Province, will apply discounted admission regulations for Okjeongho Bungeo Island Ecological Park next month to accommodate various social groups.
The county announced on the 23rd that through a partial amendment of the 'Okjeongho Bungeo Island Management and Operation Ordinance,' the discounted admission regulations for Bungeo Island Ecological Park (Okjeongho Suspension Bridge) will be implemented next month.
The admission fee for the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge and Bungeo Island Ecological Park, officially opened last March, has been 3,000 KRW for general adults and 1,000 KRW for elementary, middle, and high school students to ensure smooth operation and management of the ecological park.
The county revised the ordinance to allow free admission for severely disabled persons (including one companion) and national merit recipients, and introduced a new regulation where mildly disabled persons, seniors aged 65 and over, and groups of 20 or more pay a reduced admission fee of 2,000 KRW instead of the original 3,000 KRW.
Accordingly, the discounted admission will be fully implemented following the ordinance proclamation next month.
With the establishment of discount regulations for various social groups, the county expects an increase in tourists visiting Imsil and plans to continuously promote thorough safety management to ensure the safety of visitors.
Bungeo Island, known as a landmark of Okjeongho, became an easily accessible tourist destination on foot with the temporary opening of the suspension bridge in October last year, attracting about 450,000 visitors by December.
The county will continue to enhance the attractions and entertainment for tourists visiting Bungeo Island by developing children's playground facilities, improving photo zones, planting annual flowers, and implementing landscaping projects to create a scenic environment blooming with flowers throughout the four seasons, offering many memories and impressions to visitors.
County Governor Shim Min said, "We expect that various social groups will visit Okjeongho more frequently through the ordinance amendment," and added, "We will strive to establish Okjeongho, a treasured tourist site in Jeonbuk, as a nationwide tourist attraction that significantly contributes to the local economy."
Meanwhile, the summer operating hours (March to October) of Bungeo Island Ecological Park are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with admission restricted until 5 p.m. considering the round-trip time of the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge.
Also, the park is closed every Monday for regular safety inspections. If Monday is a public holiday, the park operates normally on Monday, and the following weekday (Tuesday) becomes the day off.
