UNIST was ranked 4th nationally and 21st in Asia in the 2023 Asia University Rankings by the UK university evaluation agency THE (Times Higher Education).
Additionally, UNIST celebrated the honor of being selected as the best case in the ‘Workplace of the Year’ category at the ‘THE Awards Asia 2023,’ which evaluates excellence in university management.
On the 22nd, THE announced the results of the 2023 Asia University Rankings. UNIST maintained its 4th place nationally from last year and ranked 21st in Asia.
Earlier, at the ‘THE Awards Asia 2023’ event held on the 21st, UNIST was selected as the winner in the ‘Workplace of the Year’ category. UNIST was the only recipient among domestic universities.
The THE Awards Asia, hosted by THE, is an award that recognizes outstanding cases across a total of 10 categories including university management, student education, and community contribution.
Eight outstanding cases are selected per category, with one best case awarded. This year, over 700 cases were submitted from more than 220 universities across about 20 countries.
UNIST was recognized as an outstanding case in two categories at this awards: ‘Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership’ and ‘Workplace of the Year.’
These recognitions were given for activating education and research in the environmental field through the establishment of the Carbon Neutral Convergence Center, and for the operation of staff capacity enhancement and morale-boosting programs based on recognition and connection.
A THE official stated, “UNIST demonstrated that it has established a clear and comprehensive strategy to improve the working environment for its staff,” and evaluated that “the programs operated were creative and impactful.”
UNIST operates staff morale-boosting programs such as voluntary staff learning groups, discovering outstanding cases including the publication of ‘Economic Impact of UNIST,’ running contests for work manuals and improvement cases, introducing a career points system, and managing a praise and encouragement bulletin board.
