8 Group Chairpersons Invited to Elysee Palace
Encouraging Participation in Future Strategic Industries such as Energy and Bio
Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), along with chairpersons of eight major groups, met with Emmanuel Macron, President of France, to discuss economic cooperation measures during their visit to France.
On the 21st (local time), President Macron invited the domestic major group chairpersons, who were visiting Paris to attend the 172nd General Assembly of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE), to the ?lys?e Palace for a meeting, the KCCI announced.

President Macron presented France’s ongoing economic and social reform policies aimed at enhancing the country’s investment attractiveness, explaining investment plans in future strategic industries such as energy, future transportation, and medical and bio sectors, encouraging interest and participation from Korean companies.
Lee Sung-woo, Head of the International Trade Division at KCCI, stated, "Since his inauguration in 2017, President Macron has consistently pursued business-friendly policies such as corporate tax cuts and simplification of administrative procedures. Thanks to these efforts, Korea has achieved a total investment of 4.1 billion USD in France through more than 550 investment cases over the past five years." He added, "This meeting will serve as an opportunity for Korean companies to enter and invest in France more actively with the support of the French government."
The group of chairpersons also attended the 4th competitive presentation (PT) on the 20th with about 20 executive committee members of the private committee supporting the Expo bid and participated in the BIE General Assembly. On the same day, they conducted intensive Expo negotiation activities targeting over 100 BIE representatives at the official reception.

View original imageAdditionally, the KCCI co-hosted the "Korea-France Business Round Table (BRT)" with MEDEF International, the French industrial federation, on the same day.
From the Korean side, 13 key corporate officials attended, including Woo Tae-hee, Executive Vice Chairman of KCCI, Park Seung-hee, President of Samsung Electronics, and Lee Hyung-hee, Chairman of SK Communications Committee. From France, 17 participants were present, including St?phane Isra?l, Chairman of the Korea-France Business Council at MEDEF International, Philippe Lefort, French Ambassador to Korea, and Pascal Cagni, Head of Business France.
Representatives from both countries’ companies discussed mid- to long-term cooperation plans focusing on energy and technology sectors.
Vice Chairman Woo said, "France is strategically fostering next-generation industries such as energy, semiconductors, batteries, and bio under the investment plan called 'France 2030,' which aligns with the strengths of Korean companies. We will further expand cooperation between companies of both countries in energy and technology fields."

The KCCI and MEDEF International signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand mutual cooperation in economic and industrial exchanges between the two countries and to serve as a private communication channel to facilitate smooth activities for companies, using this BRT as an opportunity.
