Young People Unite to Breathe New Life into Local Communities

Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do held a meeting for the ‘Jeonnam-type Youth Community Activation Project’ and has begun full-scale support for youth community activities.

According to the county on the 21st, the ‘Jeonnam-type Youth Community Activation Project’ is a program aimed at supporting various activities of youth communities to promote stable settlement in the region. This year, 7 teams (37 members) were selected in the county and will be active from June to November.

The 7 selected youth communities are expected to revitalize the local community through various activities that residents can participate in, such as △ developing Wando-gun-exclusive emoticons and producing promotional items like grip talks and keychains △ operating wood burning and upcycling programs △ running visiting color psychology counseling programs △ operating and promoting traditional Korean music training programs △ producing shopping bags and beverage carriers by recycling discarded banners and clothing △ researching food using abalone.

At the meeting held on the 9th, information about the Jeonnam-type Youth Community Activation Project and the activity directions of each youth community were shared. Starting with this meeting, the county plans to continuously support communication and exchange activities among youth communities.

In November, after the activities conclude, the county will organize an event to share the achievements of the activities led by the county.

The representatives of the youth communities said, “We are grateful for the opportunity to interact and engage in activities,” and “We will strive to ensure that our activities have a positive impact on the region.”

A county official stated, “We look forward to the activities of young people growing together with the region through this project,” and “We hope that youth culture spreads and the region becomes filled with the vitality of young people.”
