Gurye Jirisan History and Culture Center, Five-Color Experience for Dano Festival
Historical and Cultural Center Operates "Seasonal Customs and Solar Terms Program"
The Jirisan History and Culture Center in Gurye, Jeollanam-do, conducts a lunar calendar seasonal customs program every month.
On the 17th, to celebrate Dano, one of Korea's four major traditional holidays, a unique traditional folk game experience event was held.
The event was held together with participants of the Sonjapgo Eco Expedition, part of the Gurye-gun Ecological Learning City Creation Contest project.
The Dano program provided an opportunity for families to experience traditional customs enjoyed during Dano, such as washing with iris water, tasting surichwi rice cakes, making cherry punch, and creating jangmyeongnu bracelets by knotting colorful threads, allowing them to reflect on the meaning of traditional culture.
County Governor Kim Sun-ho said, “Through traditional seasonal customs experience events, we hope to rediscover fading traditions. Going forward, the Jirisan History and Culture Center plans to develop interesting experience events for children and families, such as traditional culture and food experiences, tailored to each seasonal festival like Chilseok, Jungangjeol, and Ipdong.”
