Namwon Baekdudaegan Experience and Recreation Facility Selected as 'Jeonbuk-style Healing Tourism Site'

Namwon City in Jeollabuk-do announced on the 16th that the Baekdudaegan Ecological Education Center Experience and Recreation Facility located in Unbong-eup has been selected for the ‘2023 Jeollabuk-do Healing Tourism Site Contest Project.’

Hosted by Jeollabuk-do and the Jeollabuk-do Culture and Tourism Foundation, this project selects and fosters healing tourism sites within the province by operating healing programs based on tourism resources to revitalize healing tourism. A total of 27 companies applied, and 10 companies were finally selected.

The Baekdudaegan Ecological Education Center Experience and Recreation Facility selected this time was established in 2014 on an area of 210,545㎡ with a project cost of 6.7 billion KRW. It features abundant forest resource spaces of Jirisan such as Solnaeum-gil, Ion Path, Joritdae-gil, Naenamuteo, an observatory deck, Bichaeum Valley, meditation room, treehouse, and healing camping site.

Forest healing programs include general programs tailored to different groups such as the general public, office workers, people with disabilities, elderly, and youth, as well as specialized programs for users of the forest treehouse and camping site. Various programs such as forest interpretation utilize forest resources, scenery, sounds, and more.

Through this contest selection, the facility will receive partial facility support funds, expert consulting, travel agency-linked product development and operation, and promotional marketing support.

A city official said, “We hope domestic and international tourists fully enjoy the greatest gift nature offers at the Baekdudaegan Experience and Recreation Facility located in Jirisan,” adding, “We will strive to become Korea’s top healing tourism site where people can heal their body and mind with even better programs in the future.”
