Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu Travels Abroad for 'Leading Aerospace' Vision
France and Spain Business Trip, Expanding Global Economic Diplomacy
Park Wan-su, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, embarked on an overseas business trip on the 14th to realize the vision for the aerospace industry, attract investment, and promote startups.
According to Gyeongnam Province, the Gyeongnam delegation, led by Governor Park, will conduct global economic diplomacy in Spain and France for 8 nights and 10 days until the 23rd.
The delegation consists of Governor Park, Park Dong-sik, Mayor of Sacheon, Koo Ja-cheon, Chairman of the Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce Council, Kang Gu-young, President of Korea Aerospace Industries, and Kwon Soon-ki, President of Gyeongsang National University.
They will complete activities including ▲exchange cooperation and research institute visits with the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) ▲support for investment briefing (IR) activities and export consultations ▲official visit to the Basque Country and meeting with the governor ▲visit to Station F, the world’s largest startup incubator ▲signing of a business agreement for industrial and economic exchange cooperation between regional chambers of commerce of both countries, before returning.
The delegation’s official schedule began with discussions with the Charg? d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Spain regarding industrial trends in Spain and support for local companies’ entry into the European market.
They then toured the Barcelona 22@ Innovation District, which transformed an old industrial complex into a knowledge-intensive advanced industrial complex, and visited the Barcelona Port Authority.
On the 16th, the Gyeongnam Chamber of Commerce Council will sign a business agreement with the Bilbao Chamber of Commerce to support local companies’ market entry.
Next, to establish a foothold for entry into Western Europe linked to local industries, they will meet with the Governor of the Basque Country to discuss exchange and cooperation plans in industrial economy and cultural tourism sectors.
They will attend an export contract ceremony between local companies and French companies and visit Station F, the world’s largest startup incubator.
At the Paris Air Show aerospace industry exhibition, they will meet representatives at the French National Centre for Space Studies (CNES) chalet and directly visit the center’s research institute to explore support directions for the Sacheon Aerospace Agency.
At the Paris Air Show, they will intensively promote Gyeongnam’s aerospace industry infrastructure and investment environment, embarking on a full-scale effort to establish an ‘aerospace belt.’
They plan to conduct various activities including investment attraction briefings and business agreements related to the aerospace industry, supporting export consultations and contract (business agreement) signings for companies participating in the Paris Air Show, and supporting private sector industrial and economic exchange cooperation with the Occitanie Chamber of Commerce.
They will also participate in the 172nd General Assembly of the International Bureau of Expositions (BIE) reception for the Republic of Korea, supporting the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo together with the government and Busan City.

Governor Park said, “By directly experiencing aerospace industry cases that are ahead of us, Gyeongnam will develop the capacity to lead Korea’s aerospace industry,” adding, “We will steadily pursue domestic and international activities for the economic leap of Gyeongnam, including attracting overseas investment, promoting startups, and supporting local companies’ overseas expansion.”
