LG Uplus announced on the 15th that it has signed a business agreement with Daejeon Metropolitan City and Daejeon Tourism Organization to promote tourism activation, regional economic revival, and mutual growth.

LG Uplus has partnered with Daejeon City and Daejeon Tourism Organization to discover and widely promote Daejeon's landmarks, tourism products, and resources, as well as to introduce examples of customer experience innovation.

First, LG Uplus will introduce various attractions of Daejeon through the entertainment content "Why Not Crew" Season 2 and jointly promote the representative local festival "Daejeon 0 o’clock Festival," which is being revived after 14 years and will be held in August. Daejeon’s representative character Kkumdori and Uplus’s popular character Holman will participate as a duet, providing events such as flash mobs, dance performances, and photo sessions.
The "Daejeon 0 o’clock Festival," which the three parties will jointly market after signing the business agreement, will be held from August 11 to 17, from 2 PM to midnight, near Daejeon Station and the old Chungnam Provincial Office in the original downtown area. It will feature citizen-participatory parades, street cultural and artistic performances, and food festivals.
Meanwhile, LG Uplus has partnered with SBS Mobidic, which has 1.35 million YouTube subscribers, to co-produce the entertainment show "Why Not Crew" Season 2, which has been streaming on YouTube since May. It has gained popularity with 4 million cumulative views in just one month.
In "Why Not Crew" Season 2, cast members including singer KCM, Park Hyun-gyu, announcer Jo Jung-sik, and special daily guest Jo Yuri from IZ*ONE, who replaced Kwon Eun-bi, along with Highkey, who caused a reverse hit with "Rose Bloomed Between Buildings," will showcase Daejeon’s science and research landmarks such as Expo Science Park and the National Science Museum through lively games, highlighting Daejeon as a fun and hot place to visit.
They will also introduce KAIST’s famous festival, "Seoklim Taeulje," where the cast and students from Korea’s top university, KAIST, known for studying, perform extraordinary games and missions, showcasing their brilliant minds in various ways and bringing laughter. Notably, during Seoklim Taeulje, all "Why Not Crew" cast members and guests will perform busking, hundreds of KAIST students gathered in the rain will sing along, and KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung will make a surprise appearance to dance the Tokatoka Challenge with the cast and students, revealing a unique side of Daejeon.
In particular, following the Gwangju and Jinju episodes, "Why Not Crew" will consistently convey ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) messages by continuously showcasing environmental protection efforts through the "Yongginae Project."
Jung Soo-heon, Vice President and Head of the Consumer Division at LG Uplus, said, “Through LG Uplus’s customer experience innovation activities, we will help create the emerging tourism city of Daejeon and contribute to regional coexistence. We will leverage LG Uplus’s long-standing strengths in telecommunications and platform technology along with content and entertainment that communicate with the MZ generation, such as the Why Not Crew web entertainment, to create synergy and lead joyful changes in customers’ daily lives as a digital customer experience innovation company.”
Lee Taek-gu, Deputy Mayor of Daejeon Metropolitan City, said, “We expect that collaboration with LG Uplus will serve as a foundation for tourism to build ‘First-class Economic City Daejeon.’ We hope the upcoming Daejeon 0 o’clock Festival will gain nationwide recognition and become an opportunity for many tourists to visit Daejeon.”
