About 150 employees of Lotte Engineering & Construction participated in this event, which was organized to improve the water quality of Seokchon Lake and create a beautiful ecological environment, throwing 1,500 EM soil balls into Seokchon Lake. To prepare for this, on the 9th, volunteer employees of Lotte Engineering & Construction gathered at the Lotte World Tower Arena Plaza to make the EM soil balls themselves. EM soil balls are made by mixing EM enzymes containing beneficial microorganisms with high-quality yellow soil, and they help improve water quality, restore soil, and eliminate odors in the lake.
They also conducted a "plogging" activity, walking around the Seokchon Lake area to collect trash. Plogging is an environmental protection activity that combines jogging (or walking) with picking up litter, allowing participants to protect both their health and the environment simultaneously. The event was held with the purpose of providing citizens with a pleasant Seokchon Lake walking trail while protecting the environment.
Since 2021, Lotte World Tower has been collaborating with Songpa District Office and private companies to improve the water quality of Seokchon Lake. Using an eco-friendly method based on photocatalysts, they have raised the lake’s water quality from grade 3 to grade 2. In May, six Lotte Group affiliates and Songpa District Office signed a business agreement to work together to maintain a clean Seokchon Lake.
