The Safety Korea Training is held annually to minimize damage from disaster situations. Central government ministries, local governments, and public institutions participate to assess disaster response capabilities on a nationwide scale.
This year’s training will be conducted as an integrated linkage exercise that connects disaster sites with the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters and Accident Response Headquarters in real time. Assuming scenarios that closely resemble reality, rescue personnel and equipment will be dispatched, focusing on strengthening cooperation among first response agencies such as fire services and police to prevent the initial spread of disaster damage.
The training method has also changed from last year’s concentrated two-week training involving all participating organizations to conducting the training three times over a total of two weeks this year.
The third round of training, in which Eunpyeong-gu participates, will take place from October 23 to November 3. The district will participate in the training on October 25, assuming a complex disaster involving fire and wildfire.
The first round of training started on the 5th and runs until the 16th, with 30 organizations including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Gwangju Metropolitan City, and Busan Port Authority participating, focusing on disaster types such as wind and flood damage and road tunnel accidents. The second round will be held from August 28 to September 9, conducting response training for earthquakes, livestock diseases, and other scenarios.
