How about a trip to 'Daegu Gunwi'... City Tour Celebrating Daegu City's Incorporation
Full-scale Operation of Themed Bus Tour Routes Following Gunwi-gun's Incorporation into Daegu City in July
Daegu City and the Daegu Tourism Association will operate the Daegu City Tour Gunwi County theme course eight times a month from July to December in line with the incorporation of Gunwi County into Daegu City.
Gunwi County, which will be incorporated into Daegu City on July 1, boasts not only a long history and culture but also natural environments and beautiful landscapes that are hard to find in urban areas. It is equipped with various tourist resources such as Gunwi Samjon Seokgul, Ingaksa Temple, Hwabon Station, Hanbam Village, and Samguk Yusa Theme Park.
This theme course will be operated eight times a month on three routes linking not only Gunwi County’s representative tourist attractions such as Hwabon Station, Hanbam Village, and Samguk Yusa Theme Park but also the traditional five-day market Gunwi Traditional Market, Saraon Story Village, Gunwi Dam, and Ilyeon Park.
The experiential course is operated in line with the Gunwi traditional five-day market. The Gunwi Traditional Market, held on the 3rd and 8th of each month, allows visitors to feel the atmosphere of a rural five-day market, with seasonal attractions that change throughout the year.
It is also a place full of traditional market foods, including the famous “Market Chicken Feet,” popularized by Baek Jong-won’s visit.
Saraon Story Village, located in Gunwi-eup, is a place where visitors can experience traditional culture such as history, cultural tourism, and traditional games. The theme route will include a traditional rice cake pounding experience.
At Samguk Yusa Theme Park, visitors can enjoy various experiences such as exhibition sculptures and educational content related to stories from the Samguk Yusa, as well as a water play area.
On the tour course, visitors can learn deeper stories about Gunwi’s history and figures through explanations by local cultural tourism guides at national treasures such as Gunwi Samjon Seokgul, Ingaksa Temple where Monk Ilyeon wrote the Samguk Yusa, Cardinal Kim Soo-hwan’s Love and Sharing Park, Hanbam Village, and Hwabon Station.
Additionally, visitors will visit Hye-won’s House (filming location of the movie Little Forest), where the seasonal changes can be fully felt, the eco-friendly green dam Gunwi Dam, Ilyeon Park, and Changpyeongji Eco-friendly Ecological Park.
Daegu City plans to finalize the Gunwi County theme route after surveying preferences for Gunwi travel, including a survey of Gunwi area city tour users, and will begin full-scale operation from 2024.
