Seongdong-gu Grants Wishes for the Elderly
Application open until the 23rd for 70 low-income elderly residents of Seongdong-gu who are single or widowed recipients of basic living security and near-poverty class
Volunteer ‘Jini’ supports elderly wish fulfillment... Budget of approximately 400,000 KRW per person allocated
Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) announced that it will promote a wish fulfillment support project for low-income elderly residents.
The project is planned to help elderly residents achieve things they have always wanted to do in their lifetime, and is being carried out by Seongdong Senior Welfare Center under the project name “My Last Wish in Life.”
The applicants must be elderly residents aged 70 or older living in Seongdong-gu who are recipients of basic living security or belong to the near-poverty class, and who are either single or have experienced the loss of family due to widowhood within the last 10 years.
By the 23rd of this month, applicants should submit a form to their local community service center or Seongdong Senior Welfare Center detailing a specific wish they want to fulfill before the end of their life along with the story behind it. Cash support or wishes that require a considerable amount of time to fulfill and are deemed unfeasible will be excluded.
The submitted wishes will be reviewed by the Wish Selection Committee, and volunteer ‘Jini’ will work together with the elderly to fulfill these wishes. A budget of approximately 400,000 KRW per person will be allocated for 70 selected individuals. The district plans to complete the project by November and will also hold an event where the elderly, Jini, and residents can share the wish fulfillment process together.
