Government-Pharmaceutical Meeting: Efforts to Ensure Stable Supply of 'Pseudoephedrine Formulations' for Common Cold Relief
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare held a meeting with pharmaceutical companies on the 8th to explore measures for the stable production and support of pseudoephedrine formulations used to alleviate common cold and allergic rhinitis symptoms.
The government and medical organizations have been operating a 'Public-Private Response Council for Unstable Drug Supply.' This meeting was arranged following a proposal from the Korean Pharmaceutical Association within the council, emphasizing the need for government support and efforts to ensure the stable supply of pseudoephedrine formulations.
The government recently reviewed the current production and supply status of pseudoephedrine formulations and the annual production plan, urging manufacturers to join the government in stabilizing supply, considering the prevalence of infectious diseases such as colds and influenza.
Pharmaceutical companies agreed to continuously explore ways to increase the production of pseudoephedrine formulations with the government and to cooperate with the Korean Pharmaceutical Association in ensuring equitable distribution to resolve supply imbalances during the distribution process.
