Yeongdeok-gun Conducts Comprehensive Survey of Accessibility Facilities in 415 Buildings for Disabled Persons
Utilization of Basic Data for a 5-Year Policy to Promote Accessibility Facilities for People with Disabilities
Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will conduct a comprehensive survey on the installation status of 415 convenience facilities for the disabled within the county over a three-month period from this month to August to ensure that residents, including the disabled, elderly, and pregnant women, do not face any inconvenience when using various facilities.
This survey is conducted every five years by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and local governments in accordance with the "Act on Guarantee of Convenience for the Disabled, the Elderly, and Pregnant Women." It targets buildings obligated to install convenience facilities such as parks, public buildings, public use facilities, apartment complexes, and neighborhood living facilities. Field investigators visit the target buildings to examine 120 items including access routes to main entrances, elimination of height differences at main entrances, stairs, elevators, restrooms, bathrooms, and braille blocks. The results will be used as basic data for establishing a five-year plan to promote convenience for the disabled.
The survey results will be reflected on the 'Bokjiro' website, which is planned to be officially launched next year, to provide information services on the installation of convenience facilities.
