Imsil-gun Successfully Hosts 'Hongdan Free Market' at Okjeongho Bungeo Island

The Cheongnyeon Sangdan Cooperative, created by young people from Imsil, Jeonbuk, successfully concluded the ‘Hongdan Free Market’ at Bungeo Island in Okjeongho.

According to the county on the 9th, the ‘Imsil Cheongnyeon Sangdan Cooperative’ (CEO Lee Songjae, hereafter Cheongnyeon Sangdan) held the Hongdan Free Market, a cultural performance and program event featuring sales of agricultural and specialty products, which received great responses from tourists.

Cheongnyeon Sangdan led the county’s cultural tourism through the ‘Visiting Cheongnyeon Sangdan, Hongdan Free Market,’ promoted as part of the Imsil-gun Rural New Vitality Plus Project.

The Hongdan Free Market, held in line with the operating hours of the Okjeongho Bungeo Island Suspension Bridge (summer season 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.), featured 26 seller teams from various regions offering a rich variety of products including food trucks, agricultural and specialty products, dairy products, clothing, shoes, and hats.

Tourists visiting the Okjeongho Suspension Bridge through this event were able to enjoy a sensory-rich trip with the beautiful scenery of Okjeongho along with the abundant sights, food, and entertainment at the Hongdan Market.

The Hongdan Market by Cheongnyeon Sangdan not only provided tourists visiting the Imsil area with a venue offering sights, food, and entertainment but also created opportunities to activate various activities and communities among local youth.

In particular, various events such as busking performances, treasure hunts, and SNS tagging were held, allowing tourists visiting Okjeongho during the holiday to enjoy diverse products and performances by young people and spend a comfortable time.

Additionally, Cheongnyeon Sangdan and Chef Park Junwoo (runner-up of MasterChef Korea Season 1, appeared on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator) cooked new menu items using Imsil cheese, such as ‘Imsil Cheese Tomato Pasta’ and ‘Imsil Cheese Dumpling Gratin,’ and held a food tasting event for tourists.

The Hongdan Free Market event was hosted by Cheongnyeon Sangdan and supported by Imsil-gun and the Imsil-gun New Vitality Plus Promotion Team, with participation from the Imsil County Youth Culture House and Imsil Arts Association, showcasing cultural performances and successfully concluding the Hongdan Free Market.

County Governor Shim Min personally visited the free market event, offering wholehearted encouragement for the future of young Imsil, saying, “The youth of Imsil are coexisting with local residents and revitalizing the region,” and added, “I hope the Hongdan Market will become a representative free market of Imsil and that Cheongnyeon Sangdan will grow nationwide.”
