Woori Financial Group Launches Initiative to Nurture Digital Talent from Specialized High Schools
Digital and IT Education and Mentoring Provided for 200 Nationwide Specialized High School Scholarship Students
Woori Financial Group announced on the 9th that it will foster digital talents at specialized high schools.
Woori Financial plans to provide online education in digital and IT fields such as programming languages, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), and web design to 200 scholarship students from specialized schools nationwide. Woori FIS, the group's IT specialized subsidiary, will conduct practical mentoring through talent donations from its employees.
At the launch ceremony held on the 30th of last month, Woori FIS employees gave a lecture on the topic of 'Open API,' and there was also a sharing of business achievements and awarding of scholarship certificates to the scholarship students.
A specialized high school student who participated in the launch ceremony said, "It was a valuable time to listen to vivid lectures from experts working in the field on IT-related topics that have recently become issues, such as Open API," and added, "I will strive to become a future IT talent."
Ko Jung-hyun, CEO of Woori FIS, stated, "We will actively support the students participating in the project to grow into digital and IT experts and become mentors for other juniors, creating a virtuous cycle."

Since 2019, Woori Financial has been supporting low-income specialized school students nationwide who face difficulties in acquiring digital and IT skills and career development as part of the 'Specialized High School Digital Talent Development Project.' This year, the project is being carried out with sponsorship from Woori Financial, lectures from Woori FIS, and support from the Community Chest of Korea.
