Gwangjin-gu Jayang 4-dong Haedeun Daycare Center Open on Saturdays and Sundays
Gwangjin-gu to Operate Weekend Daycare Centers from June... Resolving Childcare Gaps
Gwangjin-gu Jayang 4-dong ‘Haedeun Daycare Center’ Selected as Final Winner in Seoul City’s Niche Childcare Project ‘Weekend Daycare Center’ Contest
Expected to Help Relieve Parenting Burden by Providing Care for Emergency or Temporary Needs on Weekends
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will operate weekend daycare centers where children can be cared for on Saturdays and Sundays.
‘Haedeun Daycare Center (Neungdong-ro 3ma-gil 1)’ in Jayang 4-dong, Gwangjin-gu, was selected as the final winner in February in Seoul City’s niche childcare project ‘Weekend Daycare Center’ contest and has started full operation from this month.
Even children who do not attend this daycare center can use the service if they are preschool children aged between 6 months and under 6 years residing in Seoul, and two dedicated teachers will care for up to 10 children.
Thus, families who need emergency or temporary care on weekends can entrust their children with confidence, which is expected to provide practical help in reducing parents’ childcare burdens.
The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, and the usage fee is 3,000 KRW per hour. However, the center will not operate on January 1 (New Year’s Day), Lunar New Year, and Chuseok holidays.
Guardians who wish to apply can make a reservation online through the Seoul City Childcare Portal Service website or, in urgent cases, visit or call Haedeun Daycare Center on the same day to use the service.
A guardian who visited the weekend daycare center said, “I had a great psychological burden because there was no suitable place to take care of my child during weekend work, but now I have a place I can trust.”
