Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, Holds Rice Planting Experience Event with Madeul Nongyo
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, attended the 'Rice Planting Experience Event with Madeul Nongyo' held at the rice farming experience site in Madeul Neighborhood Park, Nowon District, at 11:30 a.m. on the 7th.
This event was organized to provide local elementary school students and residents with an opportunity to experience rice planting together, which is usually difficult to experience, and to learn about Nongyo (farmers' songs) and traditional culture.
'Madeul Nongyo' is a song sung by farmers to boost their spirits while farming in the Madeul Great Plain area of Nowon before it turned into an apartment complex. It is designated as Seoul City Intangible Cultural Property No. 22.
The event was attended by about 100 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, local elementary school students, and residents. The program proceeded in the order of a pre-event ceremony featuring Madeul Nongyo, street parade, Gyeonggi minyo (folk songs), and Arirang, followed by greetings and the rice planting experience.
