Gwangju City Councilor Sim Cheol Urges Resolution of Gwangju FC Issues
Mayor Kang Ki-jung Demands Answer on Who Is Responsible for Personnel in the Management Headquarters
Shim Cheol, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council (The Democratic Party of Korea, Seo-gu 4), urged the resolution of Gwangju FC's current issues through a 5-minute free speech at the 1st plenary session of the 1st regular meeting of the 317th session on the 1st.
Councilor Shim stated, "Gwangju FC forcibly carried out an unreasonable organizational restructuring in January under the name of change and innovation," adding, "In the process, a certain manager of the Culture and Sports Office pressured the secretary-general to resign, and there is a painful reality where an employee who refused was assigned to a sidelined position."
He also claimed, "There were many problems in the hiring process of the management director, who was hired with an annual salary of about 100 million won to replace the secretary-general whose term ends in May," and "His career was verified and he was hired with just one email without proof of employment period, qualification acquisition date, or awards."
He continued, "Two Gwangju city officials concurrently holding positions at Gwangju FC transferred all their original duties outside of their concurrent work to other employees, and despite working full-time at Gwangju FC rather than the city hall, they did not even follow attendance regulations such as annual leave and early leave," criticizing, "When issues were raised, they were given additional tasks, but even after three months, they have not produced a single document for the additional work."

He added, "I urge the normalization of the issues to Gwangju FC club owner Mayor Kang Gi-jung and related officials who remain silent behind the shield of dereliction of duty, and as a citizen before being a council member, I demand an answer on who is responsible for the appointment of the management director."
