Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport "Selected 11 Metropolitan Bus Semi-Public Operation Routes for 2023"
Four New Routes Established, Seven Including Conversion Routes Selected
Operations to Begin Within the Year
The Metropolitan Transport Commission of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 1st that it has selected 11 routes for the '2023 Metropolitan Bus Semi-Public Operation System'.
The selected metropolitan bus semi-public operation system routes include 4 newly established routes out of a total of 49 routes applied by local governments, and 7 converted routes where private operation businesses have surrendered their licenses and switched to the semi-public operation system (hereinafter referred to as converted routes).
First, the newly established routes were selected considering connectivity, mobility, and potential demand, consisting of 4 routes operating from Goyang, Anseong, Uijeongbu, and Hwaseong to Seoul.
The converted routes were selected considering passenger demand, congestion, connectivity, reliability, and economic feasibility, consisting of 7 routes operating from Goyang (M7731, M7119), Namyangju (M2352), Osan (M5532), Yongin (M4455), Paju (M7154), and Pyeongtaek (M5438) to Seoul.
The 11 selected routes are scheduled to commence operation within the year after the recruitment announcement, evaluation, and selection of transportation operators.

Lee Seong-hae, Chairman of the Metropolitan Transport Commission, stated, "We are expanding the semi-public operation system routes focusing on metropolitan transport blind spots and highly congested areas," and added, "We plan to continue discovering routes to provide stable metropolitan transport services to the public."
