Lecture by Clement, Kim Jae-hong, and others
Daegu City and International Water Association MOU
Daegu City will host the "18th International Advanced Water Treatment Technology Conference," featuring the world's top water experts, at EXCO from May 29 to June 2.
The "International Advanced Water Treatment Technology Conference" is an event jointly organized by the International Water Association (IWA), the IWA Korea National Committee, and Daegu City, an international professional society for water and wastewater. It was secured in March 2022 by Daegu City, the IWA Korea National Committee, and the Daegu Convention Bureau.
This event, under the theme "Ensuring Sustainability through Water Technology," is expected to attract over 450 participants from 31 countries, including companies, experts, researchers, scholars, and public institution officials related to water treatment. The program consists of workshops, keynote speeches, technical sessions, poster sessions, industrial tours, and exhibitions.
Keynote speakers include Jonathan Clement from Ramboll, a Dutch engineering company; Nikolay Voutchkov from the NEOM Water Innovation Center in Saudi Arabia; and Jaehong Kim from Yale School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, USA, among others. In total, seven water treatment-related overseas company representatives and researchers from five countries have been invited.
Immediately following the opening ceremony, an agreement will be signed between IWA and Daegu City to strengthen cooperation in solving global water issues, promote and disseminate advanced water technologies, and foster continuous exchange and collaboration for mutual development in water research and development.
Following the hosting of the 7th World Water Forum by the World Water Council (WWC) in 2015 and the 17th World Water Congress by the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) in 2021, Daegu City has now hosted the 18th International Advanced Water Treatment Technology Conference by the International Water Association (IWA), completing the hosting of the three major global water-related association events. This solidifies Daegu’s status as a global water industry hub city encompassing both water quality and water resources sectors in the international water field.
