Boseong-gun Partners with Local Universities for Lifelong Education Practical Courses

Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it successfully completed the ‘Lifelong Education Dessert Practical Course’ on May 22 at the Food Processing Room within the Boseong-gun Agricultural Technology Center.

The ‘Lifelong Education Dessert Practical Course’ was jointly organized by Boseong-gun and Suncheon Jeil University, and students who complete the course receive a Dessert Master certificate from the Korea Food Art Association.

This education program was part of the ‘Living in Rural Areas’ initiative, recruiting 21 returnees and new residents preparing for employment or entrepreneurship in the bakery and confectionery field. Classes were held every Monday from 2 PM to 6 PM over 10 sessions, providing bakery and confectionery skills training.

The course covers both basic theory and practical training in baking, gaining great popularity every year among returnees and new residents interested in bakery and confectionery.

Additionally, during the ‘2023 Boseong World Tea Expo,’ students and Professor Jeong Eun-seong from Suncheon Jeil University’s Coffee Barista & Culinary Department operated a lifelong learning experience booth as volunteers, promoting lifelong education activities.

Student Lee Seong-su (Wonju-si, Gangwon-do) said, “I lived as a soldier in Gangwon-do for 31 years, but after retirement, I fell in love with the charm of the southern region and am very happy. I was captivated by Boseong’s nature, where mountains, sea, and lakes harmonize, and the friendly residents, which led me to decide to relocate here. The dessert practical course program also played a big part in my decision.”

Bae Gwang-su (Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do), a hopeful returnee/new resident, said, “I really liked how the existing residents and newcomers live harmoniously. The volunteer activities sharing what I learned in lifelong education were impressive, and I want to participate in other lifelong education programs as well.”

Meanwhile, since 2020, Boseong-gun has been providing various lifelong education opportunities in cooperation with local universities such as Suncheon Jeil University and Chosun University, and plans to operate humanities lectures and certification courses in the second half of 2023.
