Opening of the ITF Changwon International Women's Tennis Tour Tournament
150 Participants from 10 Countries to Gather in Changwon for 8 Days Starting the 28th
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will host the "2023 ITF Changwon International Women's Tennis Tour" at the Changwon City Tennis Court from the 28th to June 4th.
Hosted by the Changwon Sports Council and the Korea Tennis Association, and sponsored by Changwon Special City, 150 players and coaches from 10 countries including Korea, the United States, Japan, India, and Australia have already registered to participate in this tournament.
First held in 2003 and now in its 19th edition, the tournament has played a significant role in expanding the base of tennis in Korea. It is the third tour event held domestically after Incheon and Goyang, and it is expected that foreign players and officials will stay in the area during the tournament period, positively impacting the local economy.
The tournament is divided into singles and doubles matches, with 88 players including the top 20 in the world rankings competing in singles, and a total of 16 teams competing for the championship in doubles.
The total prize money is $25,000, distributed differentially according to performance to all players who advance to the main draw. The singles champion will receive $3,935, and the doubles champions will receive $1,437, with each earning 50 ranking points.
