Geumcheon-gu Hosts 'Resident General Assembly,' a Forum for Local Community Discussion
A forum for village democracy where any resident can participate, share, discuss, and decide
From June 21 to July 7, autonomous plans will be decided by each neighborhood
Online and offline early voting available for residents who find on-site participation difficult
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seonghun) announced that it will hold a 'Resident General Assembly' to decide the autonomous plans for our neighborhood from June 21 to July 7.
The 'Resident General Assembly' refers to a forum of village democracy where residents at the neighborhood level communicate and supplement the autonomous plans established by the Resident Autonomy Committee to solve local community issues, and then decide through resident voting.
Since early this year, each neighborhood Resident Autonomy Committee in Geumcheon-gu has tried methods such as surveys and visiting agenda proposal submissions to collect diverse opinions from residents.
Additionally, small-scale public forums by neighborhood were held to provide opportunities to share opinions from various sectors including residents and administrative agencies. Based on this, the Resident Autonomy Committees took the lead in classifying and reviewing the proposed agendas and drafting project plans.
The autonomous plans submitted by each neighborhood Resident Autonomy Committee to the Resident General Assembly include ▲ Resident Autonomy Committee operation and autonomy center operation plans ▲ 2024 resident autonomy activity support projects and resident participation budget project plans.
Any resident of the respective neighborhood can participate in the Resident General Assembly. It will be held in 10 neighborhoods from June 21 to July 7.
For residents such as office workers, youth, and students who find on-site participation difficult, early voting will be available both online and offline by neighborhood from May 26 to July 5. Online voting can be done on the Geumcheon-gu Office website, and residents can also visit permanent polling stations set up at each neighborhood community center to vote.
