A took advantage of the fact that travelers often fail to lock their car doors due to being busy preparing to board their flights. He committed the crimes targeting passenger cars with unfolded side mirrors during the early hours when there were few people around. He first confirmed that the car door was unlocked, then stole cash, laptops, and other items inside the vehicle. To check whether the car was locked, A used a flashlight or tried pulling the car door handle. A stated during police questioning, "I committed the crimes to earn living expenses."
